Human security comprises a wide range of connected issues, and cooperation is vital. Yet the narrow focus of many conferences means those with overlapping concerns rarely meet. The Caux Forum was launched in response to this need.
At the 2009 Caux Forum Opening Ceremony Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Head of Political Affairs Division IV (Human Security), at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the Forum organizers for bringing together ‘stakeholders and practitioners from the realms of diplomacy, economy, culture, science and the media,’ and welcomed the Forum’s ‘holistic view of human security.’ ‘Switzerland is convinced of the need for a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing numerous actors at different levels,’ he said.
